MUSIC THERAPY FOR PEOPLE WITH MENTAL HEALTH PROBLEMS AND SPECIAL NEEDS
Music Therapy
makes people blossom

MUSIC THERAPY
What is music therapy?
In therapy – love heals and brings out the true potential.
Music Therapy is like psychotherapy with music…but much more.
Like in a dry land, music can bring blossom.
If the person can speak, we talk and make music, if talking is not possible, we only make music – expressing emotions, tensions, joy through music.
As a music therapist I have the possibility to
- explore & transform emotions (verbal and non-verbal)
- connect to the person
- sooth the mind
- explore behaviour patterns
- increase self esteem
- help heal traumatic experiences
- help with body awareness
- connect to the person’s inner child
- connect to inner joy through music
- relax the body
- increase self awareness
- increase self-love
MENTAL HEALTH AND SPECIAL NEEDS
Who is music therapy for?
Every person is unique. In its gifts, talents and weaknesses. But each person has an innate place of love and joy, no matter what.
Music Therapy is for all people who have mental health issues, or special needs issues.
No matter what issues they might bring, all are welcome.
You can come to my practice or I can come to your house. Especially during Covid it is your choice.

HEALING PROPERTIES OF MUSIC WITHIN A THERAPY SETTING
What does music do?

Music impacts brain function and human behaviour, including by reducing stress, pain and symptoms of depression as well as improving cognitive and motor skills, spatial-temporal learning and neurogenesis, which is the brain’s ability to produce neurons. To use music in therapy is healing for body, mind and emotions.
As a therapist I use music in two ways. Depending on the person, the situation and the technique I choose to use within the therapeutic setting.
Active Music Therapy: Therapist and client are improvising music together on different instruments or voice.
I use easy to play instruments (Orff instruments), adapted to the client’s needs and possibilities.
Receptive Music Therapy: The therapist improvises music for the client.
I use different instruments: Piano, guitar, violin, viola, drums, flute, percussion, voice
